Independent testing by Intertek Testing Service an internationally known testing laboratory has verified our claims on the performance of our products and in much of the testing surpassed our expectations. Rest assured that a ceiling box reinforced with our product has been subjected to rigorous testing and will be capable of supporting your fan or fixture. Instron Test Machine Preliminary test results by Intertek consisted of placing the ceiling box that has been attached to a 2x4 on an Instron Pull Testing measurement device. This instrument is computer controlled and measures the pull force and deflection of the device under test. The photo is a ceiling box that has been reinforced with our patented FAN-EZETM product. Notice that the ceiling box is attached to the 2x4 and it is sitting at an angle from the table and the attachment plate to the chain (partially obscured by the angle level) is pulling away from the box. However the ceiling box is still rigidly held against the 2x4! The load on the Instron readout on the computer shows 356.1 lbf and deflection of .9005 inches.
The comparison to this test on a standard box was that the deflection of the ceiling box was 1.243 inches after 340.6 lbf. The attachment plate was just about completely torn off and the ceiling box is very distorted and is being crushed by the 2x4. This is in stark contrast to the ceiling box with FAN-EZETM attached. The angle from the table is 7.9° for the FAN-EZETM vs. 14.4° without and the ceiling box is completely intact. As a matter of fact the 2x4 is pulled away from the table and out from underneath the bolt that is holding it to the table. The final test report will be completed by 8/26/2005 at the latest with the complete results being posted at that time.
